Daniel Craig clearly enjoys playing detective Benoit Blanc, a character who is the polar opposite of James Bond, discovers Mayur Sanap.

Beatles fans might recognize it glass onion than the not-so-popular track from the 1968 album The Beatles also known The White Album.

Written by John Lennon, the song was meant to be a cheeky shot at fans who delve far too deeply into the band’s lyrics to find hidden layers/meanings. The song rubs shoulders with the fact that sometimes there isn’t anything profound about the lyrics at all.

That was perhaps too amusing for the mischievous spirit of writer-director Rian Johnson, who named the sequel to his 2019 film knife out, glass onion.

Johnson’s sarcasm only gets stronger as the film progresses, leading to a hilarious good time for viewers.

with knife outJohnson brought back the classic crime thriller and gave it a refreshingly unique, modern makeover.

with glass onion, Johnson chooses the funny and comedic moments while keeping the essential elements of the mystery intact. But just like the Beatles song, nothing is to be taken seriously as the film provides laughs and thrills. And with great enthusiasm.

The film follows the weekend’s murder mystery party on an island owned by megalomaniac billionaire (an insanely over-the-top Edward Norton).

Daniel Craig returns as chic detective Benoit Blanc, who receives an invitation to attend the party alongside an eclectic cast of people including a high-profile politician (Kathryn Hahn), a mad scientist (Leslie Odom Jr.), a frivolous internet star ( David Bautista). ) and a washed-out supermodel (Kate Hudson).

Also invited is a friend-turned-enemy of the hostess (Janelle Monáe) who has a bone to pick with almost everyone at the party.

When the guests arrive, it quickly becomes clear why they are there and an actual murder is committed.

What follows is an intriguing series of finger-pointing events, secrets and hidden motives revealed.

Johnson builds the first half with a farcical comedy tone to create expectations only to crash them with unexpected twists.

Not only do we get a suspenseful crime thriller, but also an entertaining comedy filled with snarky jokes and clever witticisms with a sprinkling of delicious pop culture references.

Additionally, glass onion serves the social Appetizers, highlighting the selfishness, greed and manipulation of the rich and famous. The mysteries and deceptions are fun enough on their own, but it’s the wit and social satire that make it glass onion so much fun.

Daniel Craig clearly has a ball that portrays a protagonist who is the complete opposite of his James Bond character.

This time we get to see a bit of backstory to understand Blanc’s various personality traits.

Janelle Monáe brings her A-game in a wonderfully charismatic twist. She’s probably the only sympathetic character and she steals every scene she’s in.

glass onion is great fun for most of its 140 minutes, but gets lukewarm towards the end as it tries to be too clever with a stretched-out twist ending.

knife out is a delightful franchise and it will be exciting to see what Johnson has in store for Benoit Blanc in the next film.
