“But mom, everyone at school has one!” Smartphones can be handy for kids to have to communicate with you, their friends, and even to be more self sufficient. But they can also be dangerous. What age do you think kids should get a smartphone? And how are you thinking about it?

  1. 11-13 is optimal. I think we can give them one sooner, as long as we remove internet connection and make it so they ONLY use it to play some games and calls

  2. Never. We need to turn off the Internet. Humanity has proven we’re just as irresponsible in the digital world as we are in the physical.

  3. Not to mention that smartphones should have a minimum legal age like cigarettes and alcohol….

  4. Ours will get at the ages of 12 – start of middle school, going there by bus. It will not be a smartphone though but a regular phone so she can reach us in case of any emergency. She will hate us, but all teenagers hate their parents at some point 😅

  5. Keeping things away from kids will only make them place more emphasize on those things. This is a known fact. 😂
