Latest Kerala Local News: “Braved the elements for Ela Veezha Poonchira” – Times of In

Kochi: Ela Veezha Poonchira’s cinematography was a major challenge for me because the harsh climate of the mountain resort himself was one of the main characters of the detective thrillersaid Manesh Madhavan, who won the State Film Award for Best Cinematographer.

Manesh (41) shared the award with Chandru Selvaraj (for the film Vazhakku), when the state film awards were announced on Friday.
I am happy and excited to win the prize for such a film which emphasized the geographical features of the hill station, where rain and thunderstorms are frequent and even fatalities by lightning are not uncommon. The place was equally important for the character played by the film’s hero Soubin Shahir. It was a major challenge to create plot impact in the crime thriller using the mysterious visuals of hill stations, Manesh said.

The contribution of famed colorist Robert Lang, who also won the award for his work in the same film, was also a major factor in the mood of the film’s story, Manesh said. Speaking about the challenges the film crew faced while filming in October 2021, Manesh said unexpected weather changes in the area, including minor landslides, were major hurdles the crew members faced.
Manesh, a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, won the state film award for the first time in 2017, for the film Edan. Joseph, 191A and Wonder Women were the other films in which Manesh served as the cinematographer. TNN
