Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Anson Mount publicly apologized to Shazam! Fury of the gods‘ Zachary Levi after learning that the actor John Wick: Chapter 4 comments have been taken out of context.


Mount shared the statement on Twitterwriting: “About a week ago I kinda drugged my friend [Zachary Levi] for a post that had been taken out of context. First of all, even if it hadn’t been taken out of context, it’s just not something anyone should do to a friend and colleague… When I learned that he had been taken out of context, I did not. t post a correction.” Mount went on to explain that he met Levi over the weekend, which led to an in-person apology. “Of course Zack being THE most caring and kind guy was at the beyond patience and understanding and really took the time on his side of things,” Mount shared, revealing that there were no hard feelings on Levi’s part. The actor ended his public apology thanking his fans for sticking with him even when he’s “a jerk”.

The video in question that Mount is referring to began circulating online in late March around the time of John Wick: Chapter 4and shows Levi apparently declaring that Shazam! Fury of the gods is a “much better movie” than Chapter 4. However, DC fans quickly came to the actor’s defense and revealed that the video had been edited. The unedited video message has since made its way online, showing that Levi was actually explaining how Fury of the gods was “a much better movie” than critics had led us to believe in their reviews. He also implored fans to watch both movies, but that Fury of the gods was a better movie to take your family to than the R-rated violent John Wick following.


Fury of the Gods is struggling at the box office

While the first Shazam! the film was a surprise hit at the box office, Fury of the gods has been anything but, with the long-awaited sequel struggling in domestic and international markets. The 2023 The DC Universe sequel grossed $30.5 million domestically on its opening weekend, transport far below what Shazam! ($53.5M) and black adam ($67 million) opened in April 2019 and October 2022, respectively. In its second weekend, the film dropped 69% to $9.3 million, finishing second behind John Wick: Chapter 4. At the time of writing, Shazam! Fury of the gods grossed $119.6 million worldwide

John Wick: Chapter 4 Delights Audiences

John Wick: Chapter 4, on the other hand, earned not only the franchise’s best reviews to date, but also the best opening weekend at the box office. The film, which again stars Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin, debuted at $73.8 million domesticallywhich was the best opening weekend for Lionsgate and an R-rated film since the pandemic began in March 2020. In the film, John Wick sets out to exact revenge on the High Table.
