Members of the film industry don’t watch movies the way your average audience doesbecause it can be difficult to forget personal experiences in similar production situations, with Anna Kendrick recently recalling that point and how she simply witnessed a movie as a viewer. While this first-hand knowledge of filmmaking is potentially a neutral and entertaining experience, Kendrick recalled how these thoughts make bad movies worse and even movies she enjoys she doesn’t enjoy to their full potential because ‘she thinks about the quality of a job all the various departments have done.

“I think when you start making movies, there’s a period where they kind of get ruined for you, because you just think behind the scenes and how the sausage is made of it all,” shared Kendrick with First we feast. “And now I feel like it’s just kind of second nature that’s a script running in the back of my head.”

She continued, “So when a movie is really bad, it’s a lot worse, because I can be like, ‘Why that choice? It would have been so easy to do that or whatever.’ And when it’s good, the script running isn’t just about, “I’m immersed and it’s awesome. There’s a thing running in the background like, ‘Oh my God, every department just nailed it.’ I kind of get this bonus appreciation for all these people who got together and did this thing.”

Having starred in fan-favorite franchises like Perfect and Duskas well as Oscar-nominated projects like In the airthe actor misses a lot of films that we can all appreciate.
