Latest Technology News: Amid manufacturing issues, Apple accepts Vi claims

Apple recently unveiled the Apple Vision Pro SDK, which is now available to developers. Developers with innovative ideas for games or apps that can be played on Vision Pro can apply for the kit, Apple said.

Apple will offer valuable guidance and support to developers by providing access to Apple experts for user interface design and development, ensuring the app is perfected to perfection. Additionally, developers will have the option of receiving two additional code-level support requests. As part of this initiative, Apple Pro Vision Labs are available in major cities such as Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.

To apply for the program, one must be an account holder in the Apple Developer Program, provide details of their teams’ development skills and existing applications, and agree to the terms and conditions. Applications will be reviewed and priority will be given to applicants creating an application that takes advantage of the features and capabilities of visionOS.

Apple has also provided a Vision Pro compatibility assessment checklist to ensure that your visionOS, iPadOS, and iOS apps perform as expected on Vision Pro.

Manufacturing issues

Earlier, Apple announced a delay in releasing its “space computing” headset, priced at $3,500. Originally slated for a June 5 launch with a promise of 1 million units before 2024, the headset will now go on sale early next year. Analysts believe the delay is primarily due to supply chain issues, rather than giving developers more time to build apps for the Vision Pro.

The production of screens, aiming to provide realistic images and smooth movements, faces significant challenges as Apple demands flawless screens without any flaws.

On top of that, analysts say the Vision Pro hasn’t had a significant impact on the headset supply chain in Asia. Eddie Hananalyst at Taiwan-based Isaiah Research noted that Apple’s product did not meet expected standards, resulting in manufacturers having little faith in its success.
