The outfits at Cannes film festival tend to be gorgeous haute couture dresses, which are certainly beautiful to look at, but don’t really spark inspiration for our own wardrobes. Alicia Vikander, in town to promote her next film Brandonamped up the glamor on the red carpet, but she also packed in more laid-back looks that really piqued the team’s interest vogue.
Alicia’s longtime stylist, Victoria Sekrier, posted a photo of the actor wearing a pair of cropped wide leg jeans by Khaite (the style is called the Hewey) that were embellished with silver studs along the waistband and d an ivory bodysuit (also from Khaite) with a crossover neckline and a sculpting effect, thanks to the crepe jersey fabric.
Khaite combinations quickly became a heroic piece for the brand and a celebrity favorite – the Duchess of Sussex and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are also fans of the on-trend bodysuits and have both worn the original Cerise bodysuit. This bodysuit has the same off-the-shoulder neckline as Vikander’s, with intertwining bands creating a distinctive draped effect. Now that the bodysuits are a Khaite signature, the brand offers slight modifications and updates to the classic every season, always maintaining the same distinctive and flattering drape.
Meghan Markle paired her cream bodysuit with black tailored pants and a Cartier Juste un Clou necklace to deliver a speech at the Invictus Games, while Huntington-Whiteley opted for a more tonal look, pairing hers with high-waisted white pants. All three stars styled it similarly, opting for high-waisted jeans or tailored pants, with nothing distracting from the sleek draping and low-cut bodysuit.
Vikander and Sekrier leaned on calm but elegant silhouettes during the festival, and the actor’s Cannes wardrobe shows that sometimes simple and classic designs can have the biggest impact. Elsewhere, she wore a strapless black dress by Totême, a minimalist editor’s favorite – and at a relatively affordable price.
