The story of what happened now comes to life in a new film, directed by Ben Affleck, titled “Air”. Affleck also stars as Nike co-founder Phil Knight with his best friend Matt Damon playing marketing director Sonny Vaccaro and newly minted EGOT Winner Viola Davis portraying Michael’s mother, Deloris Jordan.
“Air” hails from Amazon Studios and will be released worldwide this spring. According to Amazon, “‘Air’ reveals the incredible, game-changing partnership between then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division that revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture. with the Air Jordan brand.” They describe Knight, Vaccaro and the rest of Nike as “an unconventional team with everything on the line” and Deloris as having “the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the value of her son’s immense talent.”
Part of the story of Michael’s relationship with Nike was told in his hit docuseries “the last dance,” And a pair of his game-worn Jordans sold for $560,000 in 2020.
The trailer for “Air” will drop like a Super Bowl ad February 12 according to Varietybut until then, here’s everything we know about the movie so far.
“Aerial” delivery
Damon and Affleck lead the film as Vaccaro and Knight. jason batman plays Rob Strasser, a Nike executive on their team; Davis plays Deloris, Michael’s mother; Chris Messina stars as David Falk, Michael’s agent throughout his career; and Marlon Wayans plays George Raveling, a former college basketball coach who became Nike’s global director of basketball sports marketing. The film’s cast also includes Matthew Maher, Tom Papa, Julius Tennon, Joel Gretsch, Gustaf Skarsgård, Jessica Green and Dan Bucatinsky.

As of now, it looks like Michael isn’t actually portrayed in the film. Of course, it might come as a surprise that the filmmakers are keeping it a secret until the film’s release.

“Air” hits theaters on April 5 and will eventually stream on Prime Video; however, the streamer hasn’t said how long the gap will be between its theatrical release and its streaming debut, just that it will be longer than for similar titles.
