Stop me if you’ve heard this: Apple is about to release a foldable laptop, phone, or tablet… in about three or four years! According to rumors, since 2018, Apple has had “three years” before the foldable model. We have already written about this before.
The latest news comes from Business Korea, which claims its sources say Apple is “in talks with display vendors to release a foldable MacBook model.” Yes, all macbooks already fold, it’s kind of like a laptop isbut I mean with folding display.
According to the report, Apple aims to take the wraps off the product in 2025 and release it as early as 2026. Treat any report that claims that Apple knows what Apple will release more than a year from now with a huge grain of salt.
The Zenbook Fold pictured above is one of a very small number of foldable laptops – Lenovo released the X1 Fold back in 2020, with a 2022 update as well. Reviews of these laptops tend to praise the large, unfolded display but decry all the trade-offs they come with: bulk, poor battery life, poor performance, and a typing experience that requires carrying a separate physical keyboard, kind of defeats the purpose. .
Apple may or may not have answers to these problems, and it’s likely that the company is experimenting internally with foldable displays of all kinds. But as years of foldable iPhone rumors have shown, product development doesn’t always end with a product launch.
We’re not suggesting you wait for a “foldable MacBook” for the next update. If you’re looking for a Mac, we’ve got loads of deals on offer that don’t involve waiting for another foldable Apple product that might never arrive.
