CNBC essentially confirms what we already knew back in mid-March – Google intends to introduce Pixel fold at Google I/O this year, and then release it for sale in June.

While the timing may not be new, there are a few other tidbits that are definitely worth noting. Big – price. According to CNBC, which has previewed Google’s internal documents regarding the launch, the Pixel Fold will cost $1,700. The phone was previously reported to cost €1,700, but now that the USD figure appears to have been confirmed, we can start preparing bank accounts.

Google’s documentation also mentions that the Pixel Fold has “the most durable hinge on a foldable device”, which is quite an achievement considering all the tests and changes we’ve seen on the Samsung hinge found on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Google really thinks they are. nailed the noose the first time? That’s a pretty big claim, and we’ll be curious to see when YouTubers get this device for a little durability test.

If you’re considering getting a Pixel Fold even at $1,700, you’ll be happy to know that Google intends to expand its trade-in program to this phone. This will help bring the cost down a bit. Unfortunately, Google’s trade-in program operates on a cost-reimbursement basis rather than instant trade-in credit, which is the opposite of how Samsung’s program works. Samsung’s program is much better and doesn’t lead to as many surprises as the reimbursement method, but the price drop on this device is a good thing nonetheless.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as more information is released, but since we’re so close to launch, the only thing we’re missing are actual photos of the thing. I’m sure it’s right around the corner.
